10th Annual Highlands Juried Art Exhibit, at The Morris Museum, Morristown, NJ
(Boonton, NJ) The New Jersey Highlands Coalition, in association with the Morris Museum in Morristown NJ, announces the 10th Annual Highlands Juried Art Exhibit at the Morris Museum’s Hedley Gallery. Accepted fine art, photography and sculpture inspired by the natural beauty of the Highlands will be shown October 20 through November 26, 2023. Winners in the categories of fine arts, photography and young artists will be announced at the artists reception on October 19, 5:30pm – 8:30pm, at the gallery.
Artists (adults, and young artists under the ages of 18) are invited to submit works featuring the landscapes, flora, fauna, natural, cultural, or historic resources of the 4-state Highlands region, which includes parts of Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. A map of the region and a list of Highlands municipalities is available at https://highlandsart.org/about-the-highlands (please note that works depicting flora and fauna taken outside of the Highlands will be accepted as long as those species are also found within the Highlands region. Landscapes must be within the region). Jurors will consider two- and three-dimensional paintings, drawings, pastels, original prints (lithographs, etchings, monoprints, serigraphs etc.), mixed-media, sculpture and photography. Abstract images inspired by the Highlands are welcomed. Images created with AI (Artificial Intelligence) will not be accepted.
Thanks to generous donors, a Grand Prize of $300 will be awarded in each of two categories: Fine Art and Photography, in addition to Second Place and Third Place awards of $200 and $100 respectively. Other prizes will include gift certificates for framing, printing and local events. Young artist awards for First-, Second-, Third Place and Honorable Mention (in any media mentioned above) will be awarded a photography workshop with notable landscape photographer and our exhibit founder, Dwight Hiscano, as well as gift certificates for framing and printing.

(Boonton, NJ) The New Jersey Highlands Coalition, in association with Farmstead Arts, is pleased to announce: Advocates of Natural Beauty: An invitational art exhibit featuring the Highlands. The exhibit features an impressive mix of photography, oil and watercolor paintings and sculpture. The art focuses on the landscapes, flora, fauna and historic and cultural resources of the four-state Highlands Region, with particular emphasis on the New Jersey Highlands.
The public is welcome to attend a reception honoring the artists on Friday, January 13, 2023, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Farmstead Arts (https://farmsteadartscenter.org). Refreshments will be served. The exhibit is curated by Donna Compton, Highlands Coalition Arts Curator, honoring the award-winning artists who participated inpast Annual Highlands Juried Art Exhibits, as well as selections by other invited Highlands artists. The Annual Juried Highlands Art Exhibit was founded in 2013 by New Jersey photographer and Coalition trustee Dwight Hiscano. Dwight remains a consultant for this prestigious exhibit. The annual exhibits offer artists an opportunity to have their work exhibited while reaching a wide audience.

During the event, we ask that everyone be respectful of each other and practice social distancing to the best of your ability. Please use best judgement as to whether it is safe for you to attend as there is no mask or vaccine requirement. All state and federal guidelines are being, and will continue to be, followed.

ABOUT FARMSTEAD ARTS
Nestled beside the Passaic River on four acres that are part of the 40-acre Farmstead Park, the Farmstead provides the ideal environment for artists to practice their craft. Farmstead Arts offers art classes, workshops, art exhibits, theater and concerts. Local artists utilize the rooms in the historic house for individual studio space. Farmstead Arts Center is located on an historic site dating back to before the Revolutionary War. The arts center is located on the grounds of the historic Kennedy Martin Stelle Farmstead, an on-going restoration project centered around buildings that date back to the 18th and early 19th centuries that are listed on the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places. The site was acquired by Bernards Township in 1999 through its open space trust and is leased to the Friends of the Kennedy Martin Stelle Farmstead.
