 1.  All art submissions must feature (or be inspired by) the landscapes, flora, fauna, natural, cultural, or historic resources of the 4-state Highlands region stretching from Connecticut through New York and New Jersey, to Pennsylvania.  Animals and Flora are accepted if they are found within the Highlands,

2. MEDIUMS ACCEPTED: Jurors will consider two- and three-dimensional paintings, drawings, pastels, original prints (lithographs, etchings, monoprints, serigraphs, etc.), mixed-media, digital art, ceramics,  and photographs.  Sculptures may be submitted by adults only.  They will be judged in the Fine Art category.  Abstract images are accepted, as long as they are inspired by the Highlands. 

No artificially generated (AI) images, or portions thereof, are allowed.

MAXIMUM SIZE

Hanging art up to 78” on the longest side (including frame) Not too heavy, please

3.  AWARDS

A.  ADULT:  1st $300.  2nd $200.  3rd $100. 

Five Honorable Mentions EACH in Fine Art (includes sculpture) & Photography. 

Awards Certificates will be presented at the Artists Reception.

B.  YOUTH: Younger than 18 years old as of the opening of the exhibit on Oct. 26, 2026

Fine Art and Photography awards in each category include 1st,  2nd and 3rd place, & 5 Honorable Mentions. Certificates will be presented at the Artists Reception on October 2

5.  ART SALES: Artists will receive 70% of the sales price. NJHC will receive 30%. The Customer wil pay the full purchase price to the artist, and the artist then donates 30% to NJHC.

6.  ADDITIONAL EXPANSIVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARTICIPATING ARTISTS:

A.  All art submitted will be considered for inclusion in our future auxiliary Entr’Exhibits and Artists as Advocates exhibits, which are held in-between the annual juried exhibits, including at venues such as Maxfield Engine House in Boonton and Farmstead Arts in Basking Ridge, NJ.  These exhibits are curated with selections from submissions for all years, whether or not they had been shown in previous Highlands exhibits. B.  Award-winners and images will accompany press releases to prominent NJ news outlets & publications. 

C.  The entire exhibit will be archived (with artists’ permission and Copyright credit) on its dedicated Annual Juried Art Exhibit website at https://highlandsart.org

D.  Selections from the exhibit will be posted on social media channels and featured on the New Jersey Highlands Coalition website.  https://njhighlandscoalition.org/

INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO UPLOAD YOUR JPG IMAGES

STEP 1: IMAGE & FILE PREP: 

1. When photographing your work, poor reproductions of your work will decrease your chances of being accepted. Please make sure your artworks are well photographed, evenly lit, and accurately depict the work represented in color and detail, without artifacts such as shadows or reflections, with accurate colors and even borders
2. Please be sure your signature is not visible on the face of your artwork, so that our jurying process is fair and discrete; either crop it out or use an app to erase it.
3. Each file name: Change the jpg image title on your computer before you upload it.  It must be titled like this: Last Name_First Name_Title  WITH UNDERSCORES: For example: Smith_Jack_Sunrise_at_the_Lake.jpg
4. File size can be no larger than 10 megabytes. No html links or email attachments please!

NOTE: A separate form must be filled out for each image, with only ONE jpg attached to each form.

You do NOT have to pay an additioal $20 for each separate category.
