1 . PREPARE YOUR IMAGES
A) IMAGE QUALITY
Please make sure your artworks are well photographed, evenly lit, and accurately depict the work represented in color and detail, without artifacts such as shadows or reflections, with accurate colors and even borders. Please avoid artifacts such as shadows or reflections when photographing your work. Poor reproductions of your work will decrease your chances of being accepted. Note that we may use these images to promote the exhibit.
B) SCULPTURE & FREE-STANDING ART AND CARVINGS: At least two images of each piece must be submitted, showing at least two different angles.
C) DIGITAL (jpg) IMAGE TITLES & FILE SIZE
NOTE: Please call if you have any questions about any of this: 973-910-2400.
D) All images must be submitted in digital jpeg format. Each image must not exceed 5 megabytes.
E) Each)file name (jpg image title) must be labeled with the following information, in this order:
entrant’s last name, first name, title, medium, outside dimensions. Use underscores ( _ ) between terms.
2. FILL OUT THE ONLINE ENTRY FORM
A) Read below, then click the green button to fill out the ENTRY FORM
B) Artists older than 18 years of age must include their Paypal Transaction ID, or check/money order number.
C) Artists are encouraged to provide additional information, such as:
-Location and any historical information, if in the Highlands, and/or the species depicted, etc.
- A brief artist statement about each piece, (two to eight sentences or so) with something of interest to viewers, for example: The circumstances, such as where the subject is located; how the NJ Highlands inspired you to create this piece; the medium you used to create this piece; something of aesthetic, emotional or sentimental interest.
D) Attach your jpg images.
E) Click SUBMIT button and wait for your confirmation notice to appear on the screen
F) Adults may fill out the next form to submit three more images.
3. IF YOU ARE ACCEPTED, please send the following information in an email by September 24 to firstname.lastname@example.org
A) A more comprehensive artist statement, perhaps about your medium and artistic evolution; your professional or artistic direction, your NJ Highlands influences or connection, or a story about your personal relationship to the Highlands.
B) Bio/CV, including, if applicable:
- Where you live, or how you came upon the NJ Highlands.
- Your influences
- Projects, books or other publications, education, associations, grants, awards etc.
- Professional art occupation
NOTE: You may revise your artist statement at this time.
4. DELIVERY & HANDLING OF ARTWORK
A) Work must be dropped off and picked up at the Morris Museum during the dates and times provided upon acceptance. (see Deadlines and Schedule, above) and listed on the Morris Museum loan agreement (to be provided)
B) Attach a label to the back of your artwork with our name, title of the piece and your phone number.
C) All work must be wrapped, boxed or otherwise protected to enable easy transport.
Please use a reusable cardboard box, a reusable portfolio or a reusable bubble wrap pouch.
Please DO NOT use excessive amounts of packing tape; your packaging will be reused and handlers must be able to easily pack and unpack each piece. Label your packing materials with artist name and title of work. All packaging will be returned with each work.

ADULTS (age 18 and older by July 16, 2023): You may enter up to SIX (6) images. The fee is $10.00 total for the first three images, and $5 for each additional image.
YOUTH: There is no fee for entering the Youth Category. You may submit up to THREE (3) images.
STEP 3: Fill out the forms to submit your art. DEADLINE: Sun. July 16, 2023 by midnight (11:59 p.m.)
